Help Us Build!Building Our Future Together In 2006, the OC Roller Girls burst on the scene to become Orange County’s roller derby league, borne of the blood, sweat and tears of about 20 members. Since the early days, the league has been DIWO (do it with others) and we are at it again. With your help we have grown the league into one of the most recognized derby leagues in the region to include over 200 members with 7 skate levels, 12 teams and a strong training program. We have expanded to include our own skate school, in addition to our retail skate supply shop that carries our exclusive OCRG goodies. All this growth makes it necessary for us to step up our game a bit to continue to thrill the greatest fans OC has. The Banked Track Last year, thanks to your help we were able to purchase supplies, build our banked track, host two arena games and one warehouse game, placed 5th at Battle on the Bank Tournament in Arizona and made the front page (twice) of the OC Register. We had planned for more games in the last half of the year but in October, we found out that the practice space we were using were no longer available and the track had to go into storage. We then began hunting for a new home. Banked Track Home Finding an indoor home for our banked track is no easy task. Our track needs at least 8,000 sf of open space with a high ceiling and no poles. The building needs to be up to code with parking, bathrooms and flooring that can handle the track. The owners and managers of the building need to be supportive of our derby program and the city needs to derby friendly. Did I mention we had to do all this within our member-supported budget? We have looked for years for a place and have been in negotiations for 5 months for a particular building. With a combo of begging and pleading and sharing our story… We have successfully leased a building and can move in 6 weeks. The building has an amazing honeycombed dome roof, there is space to double the size of our shop to offer more services to our fans, there is room for skater and ref locker rooms, and a place to expand our off-skates classes. Our Goal Moving is expensive. Getting the building ready will take time and money. We will need to put down deposits for the lease and electricity. The building needs some work: we will need to update the plumbing, fixtures, flooring, lighting, locker rooms, bathrooms, along with adding a scoreboard and sound. We have to raise $24,000 to cover the expense of moving into our new home. We are setting up a $10,000 campaign for online fundraising and our skaters are hosting events along with spreading the word in person to meet our goal. If all goes well we hope to host our next banked game in a few months. Why Help? With a new home for our track, we will be able to put you, our fans, up close and personal to some of the most hard-hitting, fast-paced banked derby action around. Rolling Knockouts

Definition of a Knockout:

1) A blow that knocks out an opponent

2) A sensationally striking, appealing, or attractive person

We’re both of those – on wheels. Old school in substance and style, the Rolling Knockouts epitomize the hard-hitting roots of derby and the pop-your-eyeballs-out looks of classic Hollywood bombshells. When we’re not knocking people out on the track, we’re stone-cold knockouts off of it.

We’re the Rolling Knockouts. We’re gonna get physical to get famous. Famous with the wrong crowd. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
