Here is a selection of kid-friendly things to do and family-friendly events in and around Orange County this weekend. Please check with the venues for updated prices.
Scales, Feathers & Fur: Learn all about the differences between reptiles, birds and mammals. Class includes hands-on learning, fun crafts and meeting animals up close. Mommy and Me yoga: This five-week series is designed to provide a space for new mothers who would like to begin or continue yoga practice. Appropriate music and yoga props (blankets, blocks, straps) are utilized. Learn yoga poses for babies that help relieve digestive issues and baby massage facilitating bonding between mother and baby. Music and Movement: A fun morning focusing on preschool learning foundations in music and movement. The same song set is used for an entire month, reinforcing repetition, a method that is key to building confidence. Shark Lagoon nights: Get up close with the ocean’s ultimate predators at the Aquarium of the Pacific during Shark Lagoon Nights. Guests will have the opportunity to touch bamboo sharks and see large sharks, including sandtigers, and rays in the Aquarium’s Shark Lagoon. “Anastasia Krupnik” (theatre for young audiences): Ten-year-old Anastasia is opinionated, sassy and funny. Of course, she also has a funny name, but she’ll make up for it in this offbeat story taken right from the pages of her diary. “Lady and the Tramp”: Celebrate love and Valentine’s Day all weekend with a Sweetheart Dinner at Disney’s Soda Fountain and Studio Store and a screening of the Disney classic, “Lady and the Tramp.” Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. and advance reservations are required with the purchase of a movie ticket; the movie starts at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at El Capitan Theatre, 6838 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles.
