The OC Roller Girls hosted a speed-dating event at Suds Sports Grill in Huntington Beach to help pay for their banked track. For $5, participants could try their hand at making a quick love connection on Saturday night. The OC Roller Girls was founded in 2006 and the sport now has more than than 170 women participating. The girls raced flat-track roller derby but in December started the push to build a banked track, which is tilted inward toward the center, to host some of their bouts.

The OC Roller Girls’ next bout will be Feb. 12 when the Wheel Housewives of Orange County take on the Derby Revolution of Bakersfield at the Rinks, 5555 McFadden St. in Huntington Beach.
